George Brockman, III, 90, of Hopkinsville

Funeral services for 90-year-old George "Jerry" Weatherford Brockman, III, of Hopkinsville will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hopkinsville with Father Emmanuel Udoh officiating.

Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m.

George “Jerry” Weatherford Brockman, III, 90, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky died at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, 2024 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

A native of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, he was born on September 22, 1933, the son of the late George Weatherford Brockman, Jr. and Louise McShane Brockman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma Joan Haley Brockman and an infant brother, Joseph Patrick Brockman.

He was a graduate of Hopkinsville High School and a member of the National Honor Society, the football team and made all tournament in basketball. Upon graduation from the University of Louisville he was commissioned as a Supply Corps officer in the U.S. Navy.

He later worked as an insurance agent, a beverage distributor, a member of the Chicago Board of Trade and retired from Merrill Lynch in 1997 after 29 years as a broker.

He was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church where he served on many committees and as an Altar Server. He was a Lector, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Sophia Award recipient. He was a member of the local Elks Lodge and served as Exalted Ruler of the Lodge in the past. He was also a member of the Hopkinsville Golf & Country Club. He loved his family, his church and community, his country, Cumberland County, KY, Ireland and his McShane family there.

Survivors include his sons: Ford (Debbie) Brockman of Lubbock, TX, Mark (Angela) Brockman of Centerville, OH and Chris (Bev, deceased) Brockman of Newburgh, IN; his daughter, Ginny (Troy) Edens of Lebanon, TN; his brothers, Mike (Nita) Brockman of Tulsa, OK, Jim (Jane) Brockman of Hopkinsville, KY and Chris (Lisa) Brockman of Pearland, TX; his sisters, Angela DeAngelis of Shelton, CT, Lynda (Steve) Quesnel of Torrington, CT, Maggie (Joe) Fraser of The Villages, FL and Eileen (Richard) Graham of Hopkinsville, KY; his grandchildren, Kyle (Aubrey) Brockman, Joshua (Samantha) Brockman, Matthew (Emily) Brockman, Michael (Destini) Edens, Nicholas (Quinn) Brockman, Jenn (Caleb) Cline, John Edens, Haley Brockman, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may take the form of donations to Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Pennyroyal Hospice.
