A Hopkinsville woman charged with theft after she took an elderly woman’s money while being her caregiver entered a guilty plea in Christian County Circuit Court Wednesday.
59-year-old Ann Medina was charged by Hopkinsville Police with taking over $30,000 from a woman who was keeping it in a shoe box while making excuses to not take her to the bank to deposit the money. Medina had been the caregiver for the woman for five years. Police said the theft occurred between December of last year and July.
Medina pled guilty to theft over $10,000 and a count of knowing abuse or neglect of an adult. The latter charge caused her attorney Eric Bearden to seek clarification from both Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Bolen and Judge Andrew Self.

She is slated to receive her sentence from Judge Self on November 15.
