Airmen Take Country Music To The Air Force

The five members of Wild Blue Country visited with Bill Booth Monday afternoon. Senior Airman Jamie Teachenor is second going left to right.

Wild Blue Country is the United States Air Force Academy’s commercial band of active duty musicians whose mission is to support the Air Force, and its Academy, both stateside and abroad.

The band has seen numerous changes since its inception in the 1970’s and is always everchanging. Senior Airman Jamie Teachenor is the current lead singer of the five-man group and tells the News Edge he found out about the band through an internet ad.

Teachenor began singing at the age of 3 and fronted numerous bands around his home in Missouri in his teens. His musical career began to take off in September 1997 when he recorded 2 songs, “Baby, You Can Fall In Love With Me” written by himself, and “Country Singer’s Dream” written by his father Jim Teachenor.

Teachenor moved to Nashville in 2001. By 2003, he sang backup vocals for a top 25 single released by Blake Shelton. His first ever charting single would be “How Do You Get That Lonely”. Teachenor co-wrote the song with singer-songwriter Rory Feek, and it was sung by country artist Blaine Larsen.

In the spring of 2015, he would join the United States Air Force Academy Band known as Wild Blue Country, and by late 2016 they had recorded a full-length album.

Wild Blue Country recently released a single to country radio titled “Here We Are”, written by Teachenor before they recorded the album.

Wild Blue Country’s full-length album can be downloaded for free by clicking here. “Here We Are” is currently being played on 106.5 WKDZ. Wild Blue Country will be on the Grand Ole Opry stage Friday, August 3. Buy tickets at Opry.com or call 1-800-SEE-OPRY.
