Man Charged After High-Speed Pursuit

A Hopkinsville man was charged after leading law enforcement on a pursuit in Hopkinsville Wednesday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop 38-year-old Julian Bell for going 46 mph over the speed limit on Pembroke Road and he fled while giving officers an obscene gesture.

The pursuit reportedly came to a stop on Commerce Court in the Grupo Antolin parking lot and Bell got out of his vehicle and started taking his clothes off.

After being taken into custody, Police say he said he had been drinking because he got married today and stated he was driving like that because he could be in NASCAR.

He was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, failure to or improper signal, DUI, speeding, reckless driving, and resisting arrest.
