Details Released In Hopkinsville Pursuit

Police have released more information about a man that was charged after leading law enforcement on a pursuit and hitting a police officer’s vehicle on Durrett Avenue in Hopkinsville Friday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop 38-year-old Deonta White for an EPO violation on East 19th Street and he fled in his car leading them on a short pursuit.

During the pursuit, he reportedly hit a Hopkinsville Police car and narrowly missed a second one on Durrett Avenue at the intersection of Center Street and then fled on foot before he was tased and taken into custody.

The officer was injured in the crash and was taken to Jennie Stuart Health for a severe leg injury.

Police say a PlayStation that was taken out of the home on East 19th Street was found in White’s car along with an open container of alcohol.

White was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, second-degree burglary, violation of a Kentucky emergency protective order, first and third-degree criminal mischief, and failure to maintain required insurance.
