Pending any entries via Independent or write-in candidacy over the next two weeks, Trigg County’s Fiscal Court still took new shape during Tuesday night’s Primary in Cadiz.
Josh Adams is on the board in District 3, where he will take the place of outgoing Cameron Sumner.
Adams said his inspiration to run was “a desire to serve the community,” especially one that’s given so much to he and his family.
Serving, however, is something he’s done prior as a Cadiz-Trigg County Planning & Zoning Commission member, and he wanted to do it again, and in a new way.
Growth, he said, is important, but so is Trigg County.
At present, this fiscal court is among the many in the Commonwealth facing unique rural challenges. Limited road and paving funding, a need for more fiber internet connections, a ready-to-buy speculation building, anticipated construction on both an ambulance shack and new rescue facility, the growing concerns about county zoning and potentially incoming businesses and general infrastructure needs come to mind.
Adams noted he is ready to learn more.
J.P. Shemwell will come online for District 5 and the Caledonia area, replacing Alana Baker-Dunn.
Trey Lancaster will face at least write-in candidate Andrea Jo King for Cerulean and District 4, and likely sitting Independent Jeff Broadbent — a former conservative Democrat who is among the longest-tenured on the panel alongside Mike Wright.
Broadbent has not announced his candidacy publicly, but is expected to by the Tuesday, June 2 deadline.
