The Hopkinsville Art Guild is inviting artists from across the region to help shape the future look of the Hopkinsville Greenway Trail through a new public art initiative.
Guild representative Henrietta Kemp announced a Call for Artists for the Hopkinsville Greenway Trail Art Project, which aims to establish three permanent art installations at selected locations along the trail. Artists can begin submitting proposals now, with the deadline set for May 31st.
Kemp says the project is designed to add long-term public art that enhances the experience for walkers, runners, cyclists, and families who use the Greenway. The installations can include painted structures, landscaped natural features, or other permanent works built from materials such as metal, glass, wood, stone, concrete, mosaic tile, or lighting.
Guild leaders say the goal is not only to beautify the trail but also to create artwork that reflects local history and culture, encourages community pride, and helps turn the Greenway into more than just a recreational path but also a shared public space with opportunities for interaction, especially for young people.
The Art Guild says selected projects should be innovative, durable, and designed to last at least 20 years, with possibilities ranging from landmark-style sculptures to artist-designed paving, functional art, or lighting elements.
More details about the submission process are available through the Hopkinsville Art Guild website.
