A report of a late-night burglary in Lyon County over the weekend led to the arrest of the caller instead of a thief.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 42-year-old Thomas Bush of Cadiz called 911 just before midnight Sunday, claiming someone was burglarizing the attic of his home in the Lamasco community.

When deputies arrived to investigate, they found nobody in the home. The Sheriff’s Office says deputies later determined that Bush had been using meth and was in possession of the drug at the time.

Authorities say a background check revealed Bush was also a wanted fugitive in Montgomery County, Tennessee.

Bush was taken into custody and charged with meth possession—second offense—making a false report to law enforcement, and being a fugitive from justice. He was booked into the Crittenden County Detention Center.
