Trigg County voters are beginning to see the 2026 Primary Election calendar take shape, with County Clerk Carmen Finley outlining key deadlines, voting options, and election-day procedures ahead of the May 19 primary.
Finley said the deadline to register to vote in the May Primary Election is Monday, April 20. The primary is limited to registered Democrats and Republicans, who may vote only in their party’s races as candidates are narrowed for the November General Election.
For voters who qualify for a mail-in absentee ballot, the online portal will be open from April 4 through May 5. Eligible voters may request a ballot through govote.ky.gov or by calling the Trigg County Clerk’s Office.
Completed absentee ballots may be returned by mail to P.O. Box 1310, Cadiz, placed in the drop box at the clerk’s office, handed directly to a deputy clerk, or taken to the drive-through window at the courthouse annex at 38 Main Street.
In-person excused absentee voting will be available at the Trigg County Clerk’s Office on May 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, and 13 during regular weekday office hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Finley noted that voters must meet one of the state’s approved reasons to cast a ballot during that period.
No-excuse early voting for all registered voters will then be offered Thursday, May 14, through Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Emergency Operations Center, 39 Jefferson Street in Cadiz. Finley is encouraging residents to take advantage of early voting to help reduce election day lines.
