Edgar Cayce Weekend to Include ‘Supper in the Cemetery’

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County are planning a weekend of events to highlight the life and legacy of Edgar Cayce, a Christian County native whose work drew international attention during the early 20th century.

The Edgar Cayce Hometown Seminar is scheduled for Friday, March 20, through Sunday, March 22, in downtown Hopkinsville. Organizers say the weekend will feature presentations and activities centered on Cayce’s roots in Christian County and the continued global interest in his work.

Museum Executive Director Alissa Keller says the weekend will include a special guest speaker and a dinner in the cemetery.

Adam Stokes is a published author and professor with degrees in religion from Duke University and Yale Divinity School, will present a lecture titled “Atlantis Today: The Phenomenon of Soul Groups from the Last Civilization.” His presentation is expected to examine Cayce’s esoteric teachings through an academic perspective, drawing from research in ancient civilizations, classical studies, and biblical history.

Also speaking will be professional astrologer Mallory Key, who has more than 15 years of experience as an astrologer.

Keller says the “Supper in the Cemetery” program will be on Saturday, March 21, at 6 p.m. The event, which had been on hiatus for several years, will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Hopkinsville.

Attendees will gather among the gravesites for a lasagna dinner prepared by Hancock's Catering before moving inside the Riverside Chapel for a historical program. Actors will portray individuals who played important roles in Cayce’s life, offering visitors a dramatized look at his story and influence.

Tickets for Supper in the Cemetery only are $25 per person and $20 for museum members. Full weekend seminar registration is $100, or $90 for museum members.

Edgar Cayce was born in 1877 on a farm near Hopkinsville and spent much of his early life in the area. As a young adult, he reportedly developed the ability to enter a trance-like state and provide what he described as “readings” intended to address health concerns and personal questions for individuals seeking guidance. Over the course of his lifetime, thousands of those readings were recorded.
