Larry James, 81, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 2:47 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with Masonic Rites to be held at 7:00 p.m. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Big Rock, TN he was born January 20, 1944 the son of the late Sanford T. and Ida James. Larry was a retired Captain with the Hopkinsville Fire Department having dedicated 30 years of service to the department and the City of Hopkinsville. Larry was a member of Sinking Fork Baptist Church, the VFW, the Elks, and the Hopkinsville Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Comer James and Walton James; and his sister: Vera Brashears.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Loyce James; his daughters: Rhonda (Richard) Woolf of Eddyville, KY and Cindy (Greg) Campbell of Pembroke, KY; his grandchildren: Courtney (Chris) Musser, Monica (Lee) Gordon, Chandler (Avery) Campbell, Mary Campbell, and Sara (West) Woolf; and eight great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Pennyroyal Hospice, the Salvation Army, or Sinking Fork Baptist Church.
