Hermon L. Goodwin, age 87, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Born on May 24, 1938, in Cerulean, Kentucky, he was the son of John Amos Goodwin and Vera Lee Owen Goodwin, who preceded him in death.
Hermon married Janice Daniel Goodwin on June 23, 1961. He was inducted into the United States Army in October of the same year and served his country with honor. Hermon dedicated his life to his family and to his work. A lifelong farmer, he also worked as a property manager for Jim Drury for 30 years. Hermon was known for his hard work, determination, positive attitude, and his infectious personality. To know Hermon Goodwin was to love him! He spent much time with his sons, Kenny and Jon, and his grandsons, providing guidance and support in all their endeavors. Hermon never missed an auction sale with the family's "Goodwin Auctions & Real Estate" business, in fact logging nearly 400 completed auctions in their 33 years of business. He also collaborated with both sons on various home remodeling jobs on many speculative homes throughout the years.
Hermon gave his life to Jesus as a young boy and was a dedicated member of Living Hope Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, where he served as a deacon. He cherished every moment spent with his family, particularly enjoying visits to the Smoky Mountains, and also attending many Bluegrass and gospel music shows throughout the country with Janice, Jon and Tammy. Since retiring from full-time work with Mr. Drury in 2016, Hermon's days were filled with much enthusiasm and excitement to spend time up at the "shop" with his sons and grandsons, loading and unloading trucks, assembling things, cleaning up the boys' messes, and mowing grass on his new John Deere Zero Turn, of which he was so proud.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Bonnie Goodwin, his son, Kendal "Kenny" Goodwin, his four brothers, Robert "Jack", Walter "Watt", Roy, and Raymond "Preacher" Goodwin, as well as two sisters, Louise Rogers and Sue Holloway.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Janice "Jan" Goodwin of Cadiz; his son, Jon Goodwin (Tammy) of Cadiz; his grandsons, Kevin (Kelsey), Dustin (Jamee), David, Darrin (Carli), and Dawson Goodwin, great-grandson, Karsen Henson; and his sister, Irene Holloway of Hopkinsville.
