Following a verbal stamp of approval this past Tuesday, officials handed a big $10,000 check to Trigg County Senior Citizen’s Center Director Cissy Lawrence Thursday morning at Cadiz City Hall.

Its purpose: to add on to the slush fund being created by the Cadiz Rotary Club, Trigg County Fiscal Court and other interested parties for a seniors bus.

This is something, Lawrence said, capable of improving quality of life.

Bingo isn’t the only thing her seniors travel to do.

During the Christmas holiday, they will make time for a shopping excursion in Paducah. They will often suggest visiting a local popular restaurant.

A personal bus, she added, also opens up more creative travel options.

Something else worth traveling to? Pool and billiards tournaments.

Between this $10,000 and a Rotary match with the county, fundraising is already north of $110,000 — with more possibility on the way.
