Kentucky State Trooper Killed In Warren County Fatal Crash

A Kentucky State Police Trooper assigned to Post 2 was killed in a motorcycle crash in Warren County Tuesday morning.

Kentucky State Police say 48-year-old Jonathan Johnson of Bowling Green who has been a trooper for nine years and served Muhlenberg County was killed in a motorcycle crash.

He was pronounced deceased by the Warren County Coroner’s Office just before 11 a.m.

Police say he graduated in 1992 and received the post-level ‘Detective of the Year’ honor in 2019.

Kentucky State Police Post 2 Captain Derek Smith says “Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of Trooper Johnson, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle crash earlier today,” he added, “Our Post 2 personnel appreciate the outpouring of support and pray for the Johnson family as they cope with this devastating loss.”

Information regarding his funeral arrangements has not been released and the crash is still under investigation by Kentucky State Police Post 3.

Gov. Andy Beshear said, “Trooper Johnson served and protected Kentucky’s families through the Kentucky State Police and we are saddened by this loss.”

Police say Johnson is survived by his wife and two children.
