The Kentucky Lottery announced Friday that two Paducah residents were winners in the April 6th Powerball drawing. The common theme was that both tickets were purchased from the same Quick Shop, and both walked away with $108,000.

Jimmy Sharp was one of the two fortunate players in Kentucky who had matched four white balls and the Powerball to win the game’s third prize. Sharp, who had worked as a captain on a riverboat for nearly 50 years, had just returned home from a 28-day shift. He mentioned that he saw a sign for the upcoming Powerball jackpot as he was leaving the boat. Sharp decided to stop at the Quick Shop on Bridge Street to buy his tickets. He usually purchases tickets once the jackpot reaches $100 million and he chose to have the lottery terminal pick his numbers.

The unnamed woman stated that she had picked her numbers based on the ones she noticed showing up in recent drawings. She had been playing the same sets of numbers for the past several weeks. Her favorite numbers ended up matching four white balls and the Powerball to win the prize.

Lottery officials revealed that both Sharp and the woman had played Power Play, and with the number being three, their third prize of $50,000 was tripled.

The estimated jackpot for Saturday night’s Powerball drawing is at $46 million.
