Shell Recognizes Christian County During Annual Salute To Agriculture Breakfast

Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Jonathon Shell says Christian County Agriculture is setting an example across the state.

Commissioner Shell was the keynote speaker for the Christian County Chamber Salute to Agriculture Breakfast at the Silo Event Center. Shell told more than 400 people that Christian County has a unique blend of agriculture.

Alan Watts presented the Friend of Agriculture honor to Hopkinsville Elevator Grain Merchandise Manager Ben Westerfield, with Westerfield thanking what he called three families for their continuing support.

Hopkinsville Rotarian Brandon Killebrew presented Troy Goode Memorial Scholarships to three of this year’s seven recipients.

And, Ben Bolinger and the Bolinger Auction team sold a 4-H country ham basket to H & R Agri-Power, Hutson Ag, and Farm Credit Mid-America for $31,000, with the proceeds to support both 4-H and FFA members in Christian County.
