I-24 Reopens to Traffic After Truck Crash Forces Closure of Westbound Lanes in Lyon County

Traffic on Interstate 24 had to be rerouted after the westbound lanes in Lyon County were shut down for several hours overnight due to a truck crash.

District 1 spokesman Keith Todd with the Kentucky Transportation Department says initial reports from Lyon County Dispatch indicated a large box truck hauling paper was traveling eastbound on I-24 when it crossed the median and crashed in the westbound lanes between the U.S. 62 Eddyville-Kuttawa Exit 40 Interchange and the Weigh Station around 1:30 Saturday morning. He says both westbound lanes were blocked by debris and mud.

The interstate reopened to traffic around 6:30 Saturday morning.

Kentucky State Police and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
