Drip Faucets As Freezing Temps Arrive

Cadiz Public Works Director Craig Oakley and his department would like to remind the community of this weekend’s coming arctic blast — and what to do in order to prepare the home for below-freezing temperatures.

In order to avoid pipes freezing and bursting, let water drip from faucets in a small stream.

Keep cabinet doors and dishwashers open in order to keep warm air around pipes near exterior walls.

Double check to see if water hoses are disconnected from outside faucets.

And wrap, or cover, outside faucets and hoses — while properly draining them — to help protect them from freezing temps and sustained cold winds.

These measures could help a homeowner or renter save hundreds in plumbing issues.
