5th Annual Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K Running Saturday

Sponsored by the Planters Bank and Jennie Stuart Health, the Fifth Annual Hoptown Half Marathon & 5K is Saturday morning.

The starting line is at 706 S. Main Street in front of the Municipal Building, and from there the path winds through downtown Hopkinsville, residential areas, Christian County’s countryside, and back into the Greenway/Rail Trail.

Registration for the certified half marathon doesn’t end until 9 AM Saturday, and running from 8 AM until noon requires a fee of $89.

The 5K registration closes at the same time. Firing off at 8:20 AM, its cost is $59.

A virtual option, in which runners present a half-marathon distance through digital means, is $79.

And there are other options. The virtual 5K is $49, and a half-marathon rucking division is $89, while the 5K counterpart is $59.

Race day registration and packet pickup can be found at the Christian County Justice Center, located at 100 Justice Way.

Hopkinsville Kiwanis is asking any volunteers that would like to come and help cook and serve waffles — they should meet at the tent between 7-7:30 AM in the Justice Center Parking lot.

The batter will be mixed upon arrival of the plates, napkins, utensils, cooking spray and water. Those who have metal cooking spatulas are encouraged to bring them.

Turnout is expected to be huge.
