He was born in Nortonville, served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Michigan.

He was the youngest of two children born to Bert and Minnie Atkinson. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and served our country aboard the USS Greenwich Bay. His military travels led him to the middle east including the Suez Canal and eventually he was stationed in Green Cove Springs, Florida, where he met and married his wife, Nancy.

The next 40 years were spent working as a foreman for various steel companies in Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. He retired at the age of 59 and spent years traveling to visit family and friends and new places in 42 states across this great country.

After all of the adventures, he was drawn back to “Mini Acres” in Crofton, which he affectionately referred to as “the homestead.”

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; parents, Bert & Minnie Atkinson; and sister, Beatrice McDuffie.

Memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Childrens Hospital or the Wounded Warriors Project.
