The American Red Cross blood supply has significantly decreased the past few weeks and there is risk for a national blood shortage.
Communications Director Sherri McKinney says those eligible are encouraged to donate.

McKinney adds blood drives make up a significant portion of all blood products.
click to download audioThe Red Cross will be hosting drives in Cadiz on August 2 from 11am-5pm at East Golden Pond Fire Department and in Elkton on August 5 from 12pm-6pm at Elkton Baptist Church.
McKinney says making an appointment is very simple.
