Three men indicted on weapons charges made their initial court appearances this week in federal court in Paducah.

43-year-old Shaun Powers and 30-year-old Cleve Nedd — both of Hopkinsville and former Christian County resident 22-year-old Anthony Jones of Indianapolis were indicted in May.

Powers is charged with possessing a firearm by a prohibited person, illegally possessing a machine gun, and possessing an unregistered firearm.

Nedd is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. Both Powers and Nedd remain in federal custody pending trial.

Jones is charged with engaging in the business of dealing firearms, five counts of making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm, transferring a firearm to an out-of-state resident, and illegal possession of a machine gun.

If convicted at trial, the defendants face up to 10 years in federal prison. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Kentucky State Police, Hopkinsville Police Department, and the Christian County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cases.
