Trial Date Set for Sharpe Street Murder Suspect

A trial date has been set for a Hopkinsville man charged in connection to a fatal shooting on Sharpe Street in July of 2021.

Mory Burse is charged with murder in the death of 48-year old Devon Kendrick. Hopkinsville Police reported when officers responded to a call about shots fired on July 28, 2021, they found Kendrick on Sharpe Street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later died after he underwent emergency surgery.

At a pretrial conference in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon, Burse’s public defender Rick Sanborn appeared before Judge Andrew Self and asked for a trial date to be set.

Sanborn also said he plans to file a bond motion, but he wants to discuss it with Burse before doing so.

Judge Self set another pretrial conference on October 19th for any matters that may need to be discussed prior to the start of the December 5th trial.
