Prediction Of Strong Winds Prompts Early Christian County School Dismissal

Christian County Schools will dismiss early Wednesday, March 30, due to predicted damaging high winds and severe weather that is expected to impact the area this afternoon.

School officials announced Wednesday morning elementary students and staff will be released at noon. Middle and high school students will be dismissed one hour after the elementary schools at 1 pm. Busses will follow the dismissal procedure for both elementary and secondary routes. Afternoon preschool is canceled in Christian County.

Superintendent Chris Bentsel says “ The potential for high straight-line winds is a real threat to the safety of our students and drivers on busses. We want to make sure we have adequate time to get our students and drivers home safely before any high winds begin.”

Student families have been notified of the district’s decision to close schools through the Infinite Campus messaging and call system. School closing notifications are also posted on all CCPS social channels, including the district website, Facebook and Twitter. Local news outlets also broadcast CCPS school closings. School aftercare programs as well as any extra-curricular activities have also been canceled for Wednesday afternoon.
