Christian County COVID Cases Reach Six-Month High

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Christian County is at its highest level since February with eight percent involving vaccinated people.

The health department reported 451 active cases on Thursday, an increase of 297 from the previous week and the most since February 12. Pediatric cases make up 18-percent of the total.  24 people who were vaccinated also tested positive.  Those are called breakthrough cases and represent eight percent of the active case total.

Only one of the 451 active cases involves a person over 85.

Christian County’s active case rate has mirrored the state and increased each week since early June. According to the state’s COVID-19 website, 17,356 Christian County residents have been vaccinated for COVID-19 which is 24.2-percent and one of the five lowest rates in the state. However, Fort Campbell soldiers and families that count toward Christian County’s population are not factored into that total with their information counted separately on a federal database.

The Christian County Health Department offers COVID-19 vaccines on Tuesdays and Thursdays by appointment.

Christian County Public Schools will also offer a free vaccine clinic Monday evening from 4-7 at Christian County High School. Information on how to register can be found on the school district’s website.
