Man Charged After Two County High-Speed Pursuit

A man was charged after he reportedly led law enforcement in Trigg and Christian counties on a high-speed pursuit Thursday morning.

Trigg County Sheriff’s deputies say they attempted to stop 38-year-old Gregory Shemwell for no registration tag and he fled from them on US 68 at Industrial Drive. He fled into Christian County at over 100 mph before the pursuit ended on Sanderson Drive with him pulling into a driveway and hitting a fence.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say Shemwell then got out of the vehicle and went into his ex-wife’s home near the intersection of Lee Lane.

He was then taken into custody and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, third-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, second-degree burglary, possession of meth and marijuana.

Deputies say he was also found to have three active warrants out of Christian County.
