Trigg County Hospital Gearing Up For Community Vaccine Distribution

Trigg County Hospital announced Friday afternoon they have completed tier 1A of the state’s COVID-19 vaccination phase.

The phase included allowing all healthcare workers who wanted a vaccine a chance to get one.

Hospital CEO John Sumner said the hospital has approximately 200 vaccines in stock and are awaiting approval from Dr. Steven Stack, Kentucky Public Health Commissioner, to move to the next phase.

Sumner added hospital officials are ready to move into plan 1B, which allows frontline essential workers and people 75 or older a chance to get the vaccine. When they get the approval needed, plans are to use the Trigg County Recreation Complex as a distribution site.

Sumner noted he understands this has been very confusing, and they want everyone to get the vaccine as soon as possible.

Trigg County Hospital has requested more vaccines for next week in hopes of serving residents of the county.

Sumner hopes the community will be patient as they work to get the vaccine to everyone who wants it.

More information will be released Monday on how to get the vaccine and protocols that will be in place.
