UPDATE – Christian County Deputy Injured In Pursuit

A man wanted in connection to a domestic dispute reportedly led police on a pursuit from McLean County into Christian County before hitting a deputy Tuesday morning.

 

Kentucky State Police say they joined in a pursuit of a motorcycle driven by 30-year-old William Cheatem of Island who fled from law enforcement in McLean County at speeds of 90 mph.
The pursuit crossed into Christian County from Muhlenberg County around 11 am and ended in the area of Old Madisonville Road near the intersection of Madisonville Road.
The pursuit reportedly ended after Cheatem’s motorcycle hit a Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy that was standing outside of his vehicle on Old Madisonville Road.
Cheatem is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, second-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, and first-degree wanton endangerment. He is also charged with second-degree strangulation from an assault in McLean County.

The deputy that was hit in the pursuit was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center where he was treated and released.
