Trigg County Road Projects Nearing Completion

Two road projects in Trigg County are expected to be completed by November.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says work is nearing completion on U.S. 68-Kentucky 80 from the bridge at Canton eastward to the intersection with U.S. 68 Business at Cadiz. He adds due to a traffic shift this week, one westbound lane is open from Averitt Lumber Road westward to Canton to allow paving of the final driving surface and side road connections. Both eastbound lanes are open from the Lake Barkley Bridge extending to Cadiz.

Motorists are reminded to be alert for changes in traffic configuration to facilitate ongoing work. Todd says the project is estimated to be about 90 percent complete. Weather permitting, the final round of paving could be completed around November 1.

In addition, the R-Cut (J-Turn) at the U.S. 68/Kentucky 139/South Road intersection is an active work zone. The target completion date is November 15.

Todd adds there is also ongoing road work on Interstate 24 in Trigg, Caldwell, and Lyon counties. The work zone is from the 52 to 65 mile-marker with 2-way traffic running on the westbound lanes with a centerline barrier wall. The eastbound maximum load width restriction is 12 feet, while the westbound maximum load width is 15 feet. There is also a strict 55 mph speed limit.

This work zone is for a major reconstruction of the eastbound concrete driving surface. A current estimated end date for this project has not been provided.

There is also a closure of the eastbound ramps at Interstate 24 at the Kentucky 139 Cadiz-Princeton – Exit 56 interchange. The ramps are closed to facilitate reconstruction. The closure will be in place through at least November 10.
