UHA To Reopen With In-Person Instruction On Alternating Schedule

University Heights Academy officials announced Wednesday that the private school will reopen Thursday, August 20 at 50% capacity on an alternate schedule.

In a letter sent to parents, UHA Headmaster Beth Unfried said they have worked closely with the Christian County Health Department and are confident that they have adopted for best practices for mitigation measures as outlined by the CDC and local officials. She added the board has approved a plan to successfully reopen, but they must not be overconfident to the degree that they believe they have predicted every complication or can be certain as to how this virus will behave once they reopen.

Unfried said the school will follow an A/B, or “Green” and “Gold” schedule. Each preschool through 12th-grade student will be placed in either the “Green” or “Gold” cohort and attend school every other day. She said cohorts will be determined by the students’ last name, and they will work with families to keep siblings and those living in the same household in the same cohort.

In addition, Unfried said if a family chooses not to send their child to school during this time, students will have access to materials and assignments for the partial opening period.
