A local hair salon is hosting a fundraiser for Lyon County resident, 10-year-old Owen Matthews and his family, as they continue their fight against cancer.
Executive Director of the Lake Barkley Chamber of Commerce Deb Domke says Attitudes Hair Design & Day Spa will host a Cut-A-Thon on Saturday, August 8th from 8 AM until 2 PM at their salon which is located on Highway 62 East in Eddyville. She adds the salon will donate all proceeds from the one-day haircut event to the Matthews family.
Domke notes fundraisers like this are what makes living in Lyon County and the surrounding community so special, that community members would give their time and money to help a local family in its fight against cancer.
Owen, who was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma, on September 19, 2019, recently learned that his tumor had become active again and had regrown, surpassing its original size.
