Extra $600 for Kentucky UI Recipients Ended Saturday

During Governor Andy Beshear’s Monday afternoon update, the Kentucky Labor Cabinet gave an update on unemployment insurance.

Amy Cubbage, general council for the cabinet, says the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation officially ended in Kentucky Saturday.

She adds they have paid out over $3.3 billion in unemployment benefits since mid-March, with $2.5 billion coming from the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation.

Additionally, there are still about 68,000 initial claims for benefits that have not been fully resolved, including 4,900 in March.

Cubbage adds those disputed claims require a formal written notice of determination that must be given to the federal government.

She says Ernst & Young’s contract has been extended an additional five weeks to continue the work they are doing.

Ernst & Young processed over 61,000 claims during their first contract with the Commonwealth.
