Motorists who travel Substation Road in Christian County need to be aware a portion of the road will be closed beginning Wednesday as the construction of a new bridge gets underway.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 2 spokeswoman Keirsten Jaggers says a contractor will begin construction of the new bridge over the CSX tracks and the closure on Substation Road will be near mile marker 18 on U.S. 41. She adds that U.S. 41 will not be closed.
Jaggers says marked detour for motorists will be set up and signed using U.S. 41, Kelly Church Road, and Old Madisonville Road. Trucks and over-sized vehicles are encouraged to take an alternate route. She adds motorists should anticipate reduced speeds and observe traffic control while traveling through the work zone.
The project is expected to be completed this fall.
