Heart Association Spreading Awareness During Heart Disease Month

February is National Heart Disease Month and a national organization is helping to teach Americans about healthier lifestyles.

Suzanne Riley from the American Heart Association says heart diseases are 80% preventable and their Life’s Simple 7 program is helping to decrease the number of people with them.

During a presentation to Cadiz Rotary Club members Tuesday, Riley adds sitting has become the new smoking and offered tips on how to stay active in the workplace.

The Edge Media Group will be helping raise funds for the American Heart Association during the ‘Songs From The Heart’ event with country music artist CJ Solar. The event is $25 a person and will take place Friday night in the DJ Everett III Radio Room in Cadiz.

In addition, Riley invites everyone out to the 2020 Christian County Heart Walk coming up Saturday morning, April 18 at the West Kentucky State Fairground on Richard Street in Hopkinsville. Registration will begin at 8:00, with the walk to start at 9:00. Money raised during the event will help to find cures for the disease by funding research being done in Kentucky.
