A section of US 62 in Caldwell County has reopened to one lane traffic after a landslide last week. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says a Caldwell County Highway Maintenance crew completed partial repairs to the eastbound lane of US 62 with alternating flow controlled by an automated signal west of the Caldwell-Hopkins County line, just west of Dawson Springs.

US 62 was closed after heavy rains caused a landslide about a week ago and caused damage to the roadway, forcing the road to close until crews could make repairs.

With the roadway reopened to one lane traffic, Todd indicates engineers will continue to watch the area for signs of movement. If the landslide continues to move, he says additional work could be required. If the rebuilt eastbound lane holds, he adds a new driving surface will be placed on the repair once the area asphalt plants open for the start of the construction season.

Todd says motorists should continue to use appropriate caution along the one lane section of US 62.
