Shop Small Saturday

The Downtown Renaissance District and the Christian County Chamber of Commerce announced today that, as members of the American Express® Neighborhood Champion Program, they will be co-hosting “Shop Small Saturday” which takes place on Nov 27^th.  Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday celebrates the impact small businesses have on communities across the country.
As part of “Shop Small Saturday” locally owned businesses are encouraged to offer special sales, conduct drawings for prizes, and provide swag to the loyal customers who support them year-round.  Businesses have the opportunity to provide coupons, promotional items and information regarding their special offers to be included in free canvas totes that will be distributed as part of Small Business Saturday® in downtown Hopkinsville.  This year, the Downtown Renaissance District is also partnering with J. Schrecker Jewelry to feature the final 2021 Downtown Stroll, Sip & Shop event as part of Small Business Saturday ®.  Participants will have the opportunity to enter for gift card drawings from a variety of small businesses, receive a free caricature drawing of themselves, stroll through the Downtown Farmers Market, enjoy holiday open house events, sip on signature craft cocktails, mocktails, and beer, all while supporting the businesses who keep our local economy going strong.
 
This year’s celebration is the 12th Annual Small Business Saturday, since it started in 2010, consumers have reported spending an estimated $120 billion across all Small Business Saturdays combined. ¹ That’s $120 billion toward helping communities thrive, spent over just ten days alone.
 
In order to drive shoppers to Shop Small® this Nov 27^th, the Downtown Renaissance District and the Christian County Chamber of Commerce are participating in the American Express® Neighborhood Champion Program to spotlight small businesses and the impact they have on communities. According to the 2019 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey, 97% of consumers who shopped on Small Business Saturday agree that small businesses are essential to their community and 95% reported the day makes them want to shop or eat at small, independently-owned businesses all year long, not just during the holiday season².
