BEGLEY EXHIBIT -Playing with Pixels

Short Description: An exhibition featuring recent artwork by Louisville artist, JP Begley. Image making is accomplished using digital means (iPhone, iPad and computer apps) but a variety of media, formats and materials are on display. The democratizing nature in which art production using digital media can be output today is the primary premise explored in this exhibition.
Workshop: Begley will present an introductory workshop on using the phone, pad or computer to generate images on Friday afternoon, August 13, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, with a second session to examine work produced by participants overnight at 12:30 to 2 on Saturday, August 14. The Workshop is free, but donations in support of the Janice Mason Art Museum will be appreciated.
Reception: A closing reception to meet and talk with the artist will be held on Saturday, August 14 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm at the Museum.
Artist’s Bio: Begley, now retired from directing galleries and teaching curatorial studies at the University of Louisville, currently maintains an art practice in Louisville, KY. Trained as a printmaker and having worked as a curator and gallery director since 1975, he continues to be active as a curator, art services consultant and producing artist. Recently he presented “My DIY Retirement” a solo exhibition at the Cressman Center for Visual Art of the Hite Art Institute, University of Louisville. This spring, he also received the Louisville Visual Art’s 2021 Legacy Artist Award for his community work in the visual arts over the past four decades.
