The Hopkinsville League of Women Voters has issued a public letter, inviting Trigg County candidates and the general public to take part in a series of forum-style debates ahead of the upcoming May 19 primary.

The forums are being organized by multiple officials, in response to requests from local citizens and are expected to take place May 11, with six 30-minute sessions beginning at 4 p.m.

The proposed location is the Little Theater at Trigg County High School, pending approval from the superintendent. If this location isn’t suitable, another will be sought.

Organizers say the League typically spends months planning such events, but moved forward on a shorter timeline due to strong community interest.

WKDZ and Your News Edge has offered to provide coverage and technical assistance for the forums.

Candidates are asked to respond with acceptance or decline by May 4, with responses to be shared with local media and on social media.

The League of Women Voters emphasized its longstanding role in hosting candidate forums to inform voters, and noted it remains a nonpartisan organization that does not support or oppose any candidates or political parties.
