The Hopkinsville Lions Club is inviting the community to support its vision-focused service work during a first-time fundraising event later this month.

The club will host a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at the Village Restaurant on Navajo Trail. Tickets are $15 and include spaghetti, bread, salad and a drink, with both dine-in and carryout options available.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the Lions Club’s local service efforts, particularly its work providing vision screenings for children in schools, preschools and daycares.

Vision care has long been a central mission of Lions Clubs worldwide, with volunteers conducting screenings to detect eye problems early and connect families with follow-up care. Early detection is especially important in young children, as untreated vision issues can affect development and learning.

Locally, the Hopkinsville Lions Club provides vision screenings and helps connect individuals with resources such as eye exams and glasses for those in need. Similar efforts across Kentucky have screened hundreds to thousands of students in recent years, identifying children who require further evaluation or treatment.

Fundraisers like the upcoming dinner play a key role in supporting that work. Lions Clubs often rely on community events to fund equipment, screenings and assistance programs, including costly vision-screening devices and outreach efforts.

In addition to the dinner, the Hopkinsville Lions Club is planning its annual golf scramble May 22 at Western Hills Golf Course. Registration begins at 1 p.m., with a 2 p.m. tee time.

Tickets for the spaghetti dinner can be purchased in advance or at the door.
