The City of Hopkinsville has announced the postponement of the annual Thin Blue Run due to expected severe weather this weekend.

Originally scheduled for Saturday, the event will now take place on Wednesday, April 29, with all planned times remaining unchanged.

Organized by the Hopkinsville Police Department, the run spans the length of Christian County and aims to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Officials say the community will still have opportunities to participate, including a short walk beginning at the police department and ending at Founders Square around 11 a.m. Festivities at Founders Square will include food, booths, and activities, with residents encouraged to attend during their lunch hour to support the officers.

The run will conclude later that afternoon at Valor Hall in Oak Grove with a ceremony at 3 p.m., where proceeds will be presented to the Pennyrile Child Advocacy Center and Sanctuary Inc.. Sponsors will also be recognized during the event.

City officials say they appreciate the public’s understanding and encourage continued community support when the event takes place later this month.
