A Cadiz man has been arrested in connection with obscene material that was left at multiple churches and a courthouse across the region.
According to Lyon County Sheriff Brent White, 44-year-old Larry “Derek” Loveless was taken into custody after an investigation into obscene material, which was placed through a door at a church in Lyon County on March 18th. He’s also accused of placing the same material at the Lyon County Courthouse and churches in Crittenden and Livingston counties.
Sheriff White says that after Loveless was identified as the suspect and spoken to by phone, Loveless promised to surrender but did not appear as agreed.
Loveless was reportedly taken into custody by deputies and a state trooper on Saturday after he left a local business and was stopped on KY 293 in Lyon County. Authorities said he was found with an illegal firearm and meth.
Loveless faces several charges, including two counts of distribution of obscene material in Lyon County, criminal trespassing, possession of meth – firearm enhanced, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, possession of a defaced firearm, and operating a vehicle under the influence.
He was also charged on a criminal complaint with one count of distribution of obscene material in Livingston County.
Loveless was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
