Sherwood Jerome Grinter, son of the late RB William Grinter and Clara Frances Pinner Gray, was born April 23, 1959, in Christian County, Kentucky. He departed from this life on Sunday, March 15, 2026, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, at the age of 66.
In his youth, Sherwood accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined the Main Street Baptist Church (now the Mt. Olive Baptist Church).
Sherwood was a self-employed Carpenter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Shaper Wortham, and his daughter, Shermene Sharp.
He leaves to mourn his passing and his children, Nicole (V.T.). Torian, Mario Sharp, and Derrius Sharp, siblings; Marcia Johnson, Deborah Jones, Carol (Gerald) Gould, Regina Grinter, Linda Maxie, and Larry (Angela) Grinter; three adopted children, Justin Nelson, Rachel Nelson, and Richard Nelson; stepfather, Jessie Gray; 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A devoted friend, Gloria Jones.
Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Gamble Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Cave Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday at noon at the funeral home.
