Maria Vargas, age 75, of Hopkinsville, passed away on March 20, 2026, at her home of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the service hour at 1:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Maria was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico, on April 2, 1950, the daughter of the late Santiago Suarez and Augustina Alicea. She loved pouring into others and helping anyway she could, being a caretaker was her passion. Maria was especially proud of her family and loved her title of mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a teacher’s assistant at the Kidz Academy in Hopkinsville.
Survivors include her sons, Julio Alberto (Kimberly Talavera) Vargas of Milwaukee, WI, Luis Daniel (Jennifer) Vargas of Clarksville, TN, Reynaldo Luis (Mia) Vargas of Ellenton, FL; her two brothers, Rafael Cotto of Maryland and Vihilio Suarez of New York; her eleven grandchildren and her seven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Salvation Army at 310 East 7th Street Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
