Roger Futrell, 73, of Homer, Alaska

Roger Edward Futrell of Homer, Alaska, passed away on February 28, 2026. He was 73 years old.

A native of Trigg County, Roger was born on March 22, 1952, to the late Robert Bartee Futrell and Annie Pearl (Wyatt) Futrell.

After graduating from Trigg County High School, he pursued a career in construction. In addition to being a highly skilled carpenter, he worked for many years as a project manager on remote construction projects throughout the State of Alaska.

He was a skilled woodworker, enjoyed collecting Alaskan Native ivory carvings, and anything to do with guns and reloading. He had also become remarkably good at woodcarving in his later years.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his grandparents Bailey Bartee and Lara Jane Futrell of Linton, as well as John Herman and Aliene Wyatt of the South Road.

Roger is survived by five brothers, Bob, Steven, Mark, Paul, and Dwight. He is also survived by his son Brian, three grandchildren Kate, Alex, Savannah, and his brand-new great granddaughter, Everlyn, born 11 days before he passed.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 27, at Joiner’s Chapel Cemetery in Trigg County, with Jerry Crunk officiating.

Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz.
