The annual Alzheimer’s Walk in Hopkinsville is set for later this year, and organizers are encouraging the community to get involved early.

Cindy Hancock with Pennyroyal Hospice says the goal goes beyond fundraising—focusing heavily on education and awareness.

Christian County has one of the highest rates of Alzheimer’s and dementia in the state—which points to a growing national concern. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 6 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s, a number expected to rise as the population ages.

Hancock says getting involved is simple, and participation is open to everyone.

She adds that anyone can take part—regardless of team size or activity level.

The Alzheimer’s Walk is set for September 26th at the Christian County Justice Center. Registration is free, and more information can be found through the Alzheimer’s Association website.
