A severe storm that triggered a Tornado Warning for the Purchase area maintained its intensity as it swept through the Pennyrile region Saturday morning.

The storm caused localized damage in Cadiz, which Trigg County Emergency Management Director David Bryant confirmed was the only impact reported in the area. The system proved more disruptive in Christian County, where high winds downed trees in Hopkinsville and left at least 500 HES customers without power. Trees also fell near a church in Newstead.

Meanwhile, Todd County reported no damage from the high wind gusts. The last of the storm’s warnings were canceled just before 12:30 PM.
