Trigg County’s Slover Set To Receive Kentucky’s ‘Citation Of Honor’

Earlier this week in Frankfort, Representative Walker Thomas recommended Trigg County’s Eric Slover — recent awardee of the Medal of Honor — for a “Citation of Honor” from the Kentucky General Assembly.

The full ask from Thomas, and adjoining Representative Mary Beth Imes, paints a clear picture of Slover’s efforts in the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

Furthermore, and according to deep reporting from CNN’s Haley Britzky and Alayna Treene, Slover is, and remains, “incredibly humble and stoic,” and that another source familiar said he “has never and would never have the expectation of getting this medal for his actions.” The fanfare, they said, is “not something he has sought nor, frankly, enjoys,” because “in his eyes, this is what he signed up to do.”

“He’s honored to have received this, but this is just what he would have done whether there was a medal at the end or not.”
