Authorities remind the community on Tuesday afternoon that smoke detectors save lives and offer free detectors and installation.
Hopkinsville Fire Department Spokesman Captain Payton Rogers says anyone in the city of Hopkinsville can request help with existing smoke detectors or get a new smoke detector installed free by filling out a form at www.hoptown.org/fire
Rogers says smoke detectors are important because they provide the earliest notification of smoke in your home. He reminded the community that they are inexpensive and significantly increase the chance of survival in case a fire breaks out overnight while people are sleeping.
