A Russellville woman was charged with trafficking drugs after a traffic stop on Means Avenue in Hopkinsville on Friday.

Kentucky State Police say they stopped a vehicle driven by 28-year-old Macey McElfresh after she was seen having problems maintaining her lane and running off the road.

During the stop, a Hopkinsville Police Department K9 reportedly alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, and after a search, a purse was located with a lock box inside containing suspected meth, fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, and a handgun.

Police say McElfresh was also found to have an additional bag of suspected meth on her.

She was arrested and charged with careless driving, failure to or improper signal, DUI second offense, tampering with physical evidence, trafficking meth, using restricted ammo during a felony – no shots, and trafficking fentanyl.
