Congressman James Comer praised students from Kentucky’s 1st Congressional District for earning nominations to U.S. service academies, calling them outstanding young leaders who have demonstrated strong academics, character, and a deep commitment to serving in the armed forces. He expressed confidence they will continue to excel as they advance in the highly competitive appointment process.

Western Kentucky nominees include Austin Robert Buckman of Fancy Farm (Graves County High School), nominated to West Point; Maxwell David Disney of Cadiz (Trigg County High School), nominated to the Naval, Air Force, and Merchant Marine academies; and Ralph Miles Jendro of Paducah (Community Christian Academy), who received nominations to the Air Force, Naval, and Military academies.

Also nominated were Samuel Joseph Nelson of Sharon Grove (Nelson Home Academy) and Talon Antonio Sanchez of Ledbetter (Livingston County High School), both to West Point. William Michael Norris of Paducah (St. Mary High School) and Scott Allan Rohrer of Benton (Marshall County High School) each earned nominations to the Air Force, Naval, and Military academies.

Additional western Kentucky nominees include Daniel Gunner Stiner of Cadiz (Lyon County High School), nominated to the Air Force Academy; Luke William Turner of Benton (Marshall County High School), also nominated to the Air Force Academy; and Kylee Lane White of Princeton (Caldwell County High School), who received nominations to the Military, Air Force, and Naval academies.

Nominations are required for most service academy appointments and place students in consideration to attend tuition-free federal academies in exchange for future military service as commissioned officers.
